Apple Valley Senior Housing in Peru has a newly sided storage garage thanks to the hard work of Lincoln Cahill and the scouts of Troop 49. Lincoln selected a siding project as his Eagle Scout project and with the help of mentors Rob and Dana Bashaw and his fellow scouts the job has been completed. Lincoln said, “Ron and Dana taught us about the various aspects of the job – how to estimate how many materials we would use, how to install the vinyl and about the expansion and contraction of vinyl siding.” Lincoln said they did an accurate job estimating the materials needed because very few materials were left over when the two-week job was completed. Trade terminology seemed to be second nature to Lincoln as he talked about vinyl “J-channels.” It was obvious Rob and Dana Bashaw had done their job well.
Lincoln Cahill is the son of Stephen and Wendi Cahill and is a senior at Peru High School. He has been involved with scouting since the first grade and hopes to go on to college next year with a major in civil engineering. He still has two more merit badges to earn before being awarded the Eagle Scout Award. He hopes to earn them by this November.
