Two hundred twenty persons (a capacity crowd) attended the two-hour service of worship on Sunday evening, September 28th at the Community Church of Peru. The special service consisted of singing, testimonials, a sermon, prayers, and a healing service. The evening service was held for the Jamaican farm workers from the orchards in Peru as well as other persons from the community. The Rev. J. Oliver Daley from Ridgemont United Church in Mandeville, Jamaica delivered the sermon. Oliver Daley spent the week visiting the men in the orchards. He was hosted by members of Peru Community Church who have been involved in Mission Teams in Jamaica yearly since 1999. Orchard owners David Sullivan and Cindy Mulbury spoke briefly. Earle White, former liaison dating from 1973, thanked the Jamaicans for their dependable work in the Peru area. Carol Gallagher played the piano for the service and several members of the church choir sang. The Rev. J. Oliver Daley, The Rev. Dr. Bob Svenson (Pastor of the Community Church of Peru), Dr. Don Haight, Polly Lake, Amanda Connelly, and Lana Knight participated in the healing service using oil to anoint the heads of those who came forward for prayers.
