“Peace” and food for our community

People in need of fellowship, an evening away from home or a break from daily stresses are invited to the “Peacemeal” every Saturday night at the Peru Community Church Fellowship Center. The Peru Community Church will serve a no-charge meal with assistance from members of St. Augustine’s Church. The first “Peacemeal” will be held on Saturday, November 15th. All meals will begin at 5:30 pm.
Committee Chair Linda Shepard explained. “The idea for the meal started when Pastor Bob Svenson read that one in five children in the United States goes to bed hungry. The Community Church Board of Directors agreed to help fix this problem locally. An anonymous $1,000 donation got us started.” Shepard explained that the meals are being held on Saturday evenings because school-age children can get nutritional assistance during the week at school. “Peacemeal” can fill the weekend gap and provide adults with food and friendship and a little “Peace”.
