More then fifty walkers participated in Peru’s second annual “Walk of Faith” (photos) on Saturday, October 4th. Participants of all ages walked the 7.2 miles from St. Patrick’s Oratory (Mother Cabrini Shrine) on the Patent Road to the St. Augustine’s Parish Center. It was an ecumenical event with Reverend Alan Shnob, Pastor of St. Augustine’s Church, and Reverend Bob Svenson, Pastor of the Peru Community Church, walking together and sharing stories, prayers and hymns. Father Shnob enjoyed one of Rev. Svenson’s stories so much he repeated it in his weekend sermons.
The St. Monica’s Court 2598, Catholic Daughters of the Americas of St. Augustine’s Church, sponsored the “Walk of Faith.” Christa Reyell, the Catholic Daughter’s leader commented, “I am thankful for the many wonderful people, organizations and businesses who volunteered their time and provided items to make this event a success. This year’s participants helped raise over $600 for the North Country Mission of Hope. Most importantly, participants had an opportunity to come together as a faith community enjoying each other’s company and working together for a common goal.” Reyell said the members of the Catholic Daughters are already looking forward to next year’s walk.
