Doug Knight, the leader of the well-known bluegrass trio “Three Doug Knight,” was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gherig’s Disease) this past summer. The student members of the AuSable Valley Central School Ski Club are organzing a Saturday, November 8th fund-raising concert to honor Doug who has been their advisor for the past seven years. The response, especially from Doug’s fellow musicians, has been overwhelming. Along with Three Doug Knight the performers include: Eric Gibson & Company, Bear Tracks, Crossing North, Joan Crane, Too Tall String Band, Jeff Rendinaro, Skip Smithson & Steve Light and Martha Gallagher. Some of the proceeds will be used to renovate Doug Knight’s home (i.e. a ramp and wheel chair lift). Another part of the proceeds will go to the ALS Foundation.
The concert will be held at the AuSable Valley Central Auditorium. It will begin at 7 p.m. There is a suggested $10 donation and a silent auction will be held.
