Comfort Inn destroyed by fire
Posted November 16, 2008
The Plattsburgh Comfort Inn and several businesses in the Comfort Inn complex were destroyed by fire on Saturday, November 15th. Peru resident Don McBrayer installs carpets for a living and he had just installed new carpet in 87 of the Inn’s 107 rooms. He snapped these photos on his cell phone. This is the message that accompanied his email.
As I write this the Plattsburgh Comfort Inn is on fire.
I believe everyone made it out safe.
The fire has destroyed Perkins, Legends, The Court Club, The Ball Room, The Arcade, Main Lobby, and all business offices. The main Hotel is not yet engulfed.
Every Department is there, and traffic is being rerouted from the area.
I got all my tools out yesterday, and lost nothing as far as property. I did lose a $2500 check that was waiting for me at the front desk.
Please keep Terry, Jim and all the staff from the Comfort Inn in your prayers.
Don
The Press Republican has detailed coverage of the fire and the owner says he plans to rebuild.
