Posted November 19, 2008 by John T. Ryan
The Peru Town Board unanimously passed the town’s 2009 final budget at a November 18, 2008 Special Town Board Meeting. The Board cut preliminary budget expenditures by approximately $100,000 by lowering the budgeted amount for highway department fuel expenses, lowering budgeted health care costs and correcting one preliminary budget error. The board did not make the major budget cuts suggested by a few residents at the November 6th budget hearing. (Click here to see our story on that hearing)
The 2009 taxes rates are:
General – $2.16 vs. $2.28 in 2008 a decline of 5.2%
Highway $2.51 vs. $2.74 in 2008 a decline of 8.3%
Town Water #1, 2 & 3 $1.47 vs. 1.44 in 2008 an increase of 2%
