Monthly home sales decline while prices are stable

Clinton County existing home sales decreased by 22.6% in October 2008 compared to October 2007 while median home prices held firm decreasing by only 0.2% according to figures released yesterday by the New York State Association of Realtors (NYSAR). Statewide sales decreased by 2.4% and median home prices were stable.
Duncan R. MacKenzie, NYSAR chief executive officer said, “We know that homeowners are most concerned about the value of their property. Home prices have been relative steady during the past several months, which should bring some level of confidence to sellers and signal buyers that now is the time to get back into the market.”
