Three St. Augustine’s Knights commissioned as Lay Ministers

Three members of St. Augustine’s Knights of Columbus Council 7273 were commissioned as lay ministers in ceremonies today at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg. Council Grand Knight Allen Dixon was on hand to congratulate Rob Bashaw, Stephen Cahill and Brian Mulcahy. The three men have completed a two-year diocesan Formation for Ministry program. Sixty-five people from the Ogdensburg Diocese were commissioned on Saturday, September 12, 2009.
The Formation for Ministry program includes courses in scripture, pastoral ministry, moral theology and the spiritual life. The lay ministers will give their parishes service in a variety of areas including adult faith facilitator, ministry to the sick and elderly, worship, religious education, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), family ministry and outreach.
Stephen Cahill has chosen to work in youth ministry while Brian Mulcahy will work as a catechist. Rob Bashaw will work in family ministry.
