Awarding of bid for new plow truck among decisions during Monday’s Town Board meeting

By Donald McBrayer  (Corrected 1/10/10)

The Regular Town Board Meeting was held on Monday, March 8 at 7:00 PM.
Minutes for the February 22 meeting were approved and can be found at: http://d1091839.domain.com/PeruTown/min10/02-22-2010-RM.pdf

All Department Reports were approved and can be found at the town website. A partial Dog Control Officer Report was received which will be completed and placed on the town website.

It was noted the voting order by the Board would now be alphabetically rather than “around-the-table”.

In action the Board:

  • Tabled a decision on the Community Development Block Grant till the March 22 Meeting.
  • Passed a resolution to award a bid for $186,447 to RR Charlie Boys in Vermont for the purchase of a 2011 MM2112V tandem dump truck with plow. RR Charlie Boys was the lowest bid of five by $93. $210,000 was budgeted for the purchase.
  • Approved a motion to post weight limits on town roads for the spring thawing season.
  • Approved contracts for Elmore SPCA and Engineering Ventures.
  • Appointed Brian Marino to the Youth Commission.
  • Appointed Kathy Flynn as Assistant Youth Director.
  • Town Supervisor Peter Glushko recommended a review of payroll procedures for the Seasonal Youth Program Employees.
  • Discussed possibly placing a no-right-on-red sign at the red-light on Bear Swamp Road and Rt. 22. Highway Superintendent Mike Farrell explained that both roads were state roads; therefore, this would be a DOT decision, not the board’s.
  • Discussed expanding business hours at the Town Hall. A suggestion to construct a drop-box for the purpose of receiving water payments and the like seemed to be an accepted alternative to expanded hours. Further discussion on this will be on the next agenda.
  • Appointed Councilor Kregg Bruno to be the liaison to Charter Communications.  The Town Board is requesting that Charter Communications extend service to the Parsons and Peasleeville Roads. (3/10/10 – Correction from original Gazette report that Charter has indicated a willingness to extend service to these roads.)

The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 PM.
