Public Hearing set for New Dog Control Law at Town Board Meeting

The Peru Town Board held their Regular Meeting on Monday, August 9 at 7:00 PM.

Everyone except Town Attorney, Don Biggs, was present.
The Agenda contained 21 items and discussions including:
- A Motion to approve the July 26 Meeting Minutes, which can be found at: http://d1091839.domain.com/PeruTown/min10/07-26-2010-RM.pdf
- Approval of all Monthly Department Reports, which can be found at: http://www.perutown.com/town.htm
- Awarding the School Street Sidewalk bid to the lowest-bidder Tracy Trombley Construction for the amount of $74,816.45. Project Manager Adele Douglas informed the Board that the bid was 83% of the estimate, and when added to the design and inspection costs could exceed the $84,000 grant fund by “just a little bit”.
- Awarded a bid to SymQuest in the amount of $8,726 for a new copy machine for the Town hall. The cost covers the copy machine, and a one-year service contract.
- Set a Public Hearing Date on Monday, August 23 at 6:45 PM to discuss the pending Dog Control Law. The proposed law can be found at: http://d1091839.domain.com/PeruTown/towndocs/Dog-Ordinance.pdf
- Dog Control Officer, Kelly Allen, has also requested her cell phone number be made public for the purpose of reporting dog problems. She can be reached at: (518) 726-6232.
- The 35MPH speed limit request from DOT for Quaker Highlands is approved, and the speed-limit signs are ordered. The new speed limit will be enforceable once the signs are erected.
- The 90-Day probationary period for the Planning/Zoning Secretary, Donna Quero, is over, and the Board approved her as a full-time employee of the Town of Peru.
The Meeting was adjourned a couple minutes after 9PM.
