Next Week’s School Board meeting important topics
Peru Central’s Board of Education launches its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, December 13th at 6 PM at the school district’s community room, adjacent to the main entrance of Peru High School. An executive session associated with particular matters leading to employment, collective negotiations and advice of counsel from the school attorney will take place immediately following the 6 PM start. The school board is slated to reconvene for public session business at approximately 7:30 PM. It’s anticipated the school board will:
- Receive a concise update on BOCES budget development from Ron Clamser, Jr., School Business Executive for the Clinton-Essex-Warren-Washington BOCES.
- Examine and discuss the annual set of curriculum data books. There is one such data book presented by the Principal of each grade span. Each curriculum data books highlight student achievement, curriculum updates, professional development accomplishments, current strengths, and emerging priorities associated with that grade span’s curriculum, instruction and achievement.
- Peruse the 11th annual early progress report on district goals.
- Complete a first reading of proposed policy 9705 Family Medical Leave Act, intended to provide clear guidance to district employees regarding federal law.
- Examine and discuss the timetable for recruitment of a successor Superintendent of Schools that was established last month.
- Consider various options for inviting non-employee district residents to fill the various ‘community seats’ on the school board’s winter 2012 stakeholder committee that is part of the Superintendent search process. That committee will be facilitated by Craig King, the school board’s Superintendent search consultant.
- Consider moving ahead with a successor collective bargaining agreement between the school district and the faculty association.
- Attend to the full range of regular monthly personnel matters, public reporting, new business and fiscal matters as is customary at regular monthly meetings.
