New Altar dedicated on Easter Sunday
L-R Carlo Amico, Rev. Alan Shnob, Doreen Amico
The tabernacle in St. Augustine’s Church is resting on a new Altar of Repose, which Father Alan Shnob dedicated on Easter Sunday at the 8 AM Mass. St. Augustine’s parishioner Carlo Amico handcrafted the Altar using local granite and wood.
St. Augustine’s parishioner Howard Plumadore began the process by cutting an oak tree that Father Shnob had found on the grounds of St. Patrick’s Oratory. Parishioner Donald Provost cut the wood into lumber at his local sawmill. Carlo Amico finished the oak lumber, purchased the polished green granite from an Ausable Forks quarry and handcrafted the Altar using wooden pegs rather than nails or screws.
