“Curiouser and Curiouser: Illustrations by Tory and Norman Taber”
Plattsburgh – The North Country Cultural Center for the Arts (NCCCA Arts Center) is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition entitled, “Curiouser and Curiouser: Illustrations by Tory and Norman Taber.”
The collection features both published and a few personal illustrative works, as well as “constructions” of found objects by Norman and personal portraits painted by Tory. The exhibit includes approximately thirty pieces and will be on display in the Arts Center’s Main Gallery starting on Friday, May 4th 2012.
“The Tabers are a treasure in our community,” says NCCCA Arts Center Executive Director, Janine Scherline, “and it will be a treat to house their colorful illustrations in our Main Gallery during May!”
Tory and Norman are both educators at SUNY Plattsburgh who are passionate about art. Tory is an adjunct professor and teaches 2-D design, while Norman, an Associate Professor, teaches graphic design and illustration. As freelance artists, many of their artworks are collaborative and though they have no true “formula,” they pass their sketches and paintings back and forth and rely on one another’s talent to complete their artwork.
The title for the exhibition was pulled from the pages of “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll and references the couples affinity for the “playful, slightly absurd and nonsensical” explains Tory. Their resulting collaboration “Curiouser and Curiouser” will be in the Main Gallery on the first floor of the Arts Center through June 2nd, 2012.
The Main Gallery is open to visitors Tuesday through Friday, 10am – 4pm and Saturdays, 11am – 3pm.
