Elmore SPCA has a Grand Re-opening with a great turnout
The staff and volunteers looked forward to Saturday, April 28, 2012 for several months. Saturday was the Grand Re-opening of the Elmore SPCA and hundreds of local residents stopped by to tour the remodeled and much improved animal shelter. Visitors also enjoyed the displays, crafts and food available on the grounds. The SPCA operated at a temporary location on the Arthur Rd. for about three years, but it has returned to 556 Telegraph Rd. where it has served the public since 1971.
The remodeled facility is much improved in every sense. It includes brighter lighting and more office space, an air exchange system to improve air quality, a staff break and food preparation area, an animal bathing and care room, several outdoor pens where the animals can exercise daily, and large dog and cat boarding rooms. The cats even have a colony room where they can move about freely and rest in their own wall-mounted beds. An isolation area in the basement is used to isolate newly arriving animals. There is also a separate room for the Dog Control Officer to use twenty-four hours a day. Click here to view all our Saturday photos.
