Happy 107th to Lena Martin!
Valehaven's Kelly Ledwith helped Mrs. Martin open gifts

There was a special party today for one of the residents at Valehaven Home for Adults in Peru. Residents and visitors were celebrating Lena Collins Martin’s 107th birthday. She is reportedly the oldest person in Clinton, Essex and Franklin Counties. Mrs. Martin grew up in Clintonville, married Arthur Martin in 1925 and has lived in Keeseville and Dannemora. At one time she worked at Ausable Chasm and at Port Kent.
Her visitors today included her nieces Barbara Martin and Lucille Davidson, her great, great nephew Josh Blaise and her son-in-law Donald Gratto. Shirley Martin Gratto, Lena’s only child, is deceased.
Lena received several birthday gifts, but the chocolates seemed to draw most of her attention. She had resided at Valehaven for five years.
