Water quality, speed zones and stop signs highlight board meeting

The Town Board’s July 23, 2012 included projections of beginning and completion dates on several important projects.  All board members and Town Attorney Donald Biggs were in attendance.

The Water Quality/Sewer System Improvement Project bids are scheduled to be opened on August 10, 2012.  Bidders are touring the project this morning (Thursday, July 26th) for pre-bid information.  Water/Sewer Superintendent Greg Timmons said the project should be completed by February 2013.  The board plans to hold a project informational meeting, which will include the extent of water user tax rate increases. The estimated $3.2 million project is expected to raise taxes on water users by approximately $1.30 per thousand dollars of assessed value. 

Upgrades to the South Acres Trailer Park sewer system began on Monday, July 23rd. The project should be completed by January 19, 2013.

Eight security doors have been installed in the Town Hall a cost $7,354.  The door shave metal door casings and tempered glass.

Lighting at both ends of Little Ausable River Park pond has/will be installed to accommodate nighttime skaters.

One Main Street property owner has still not consented to an easement for the North Bend Street sewer project.

The board adjourned to a 45-minutes Executive Session to discuss ongoing/possible litigation. The session included Highway Superintendent Michael Farrell.

The board passed a resolution to request that 30 mph speed zone signs be installed on Washington St., Lafleur Lane and Cayea Road. The speed limit on those streets is currently 55 mph.

A resolution was passed to request the erection of stop signs on Jenkins Street at the intersection with Mason Street and on Mason Street at the intersection with Jenkins Street.
