Town Board approves water quality improvement bids
By Donald McBrayer
At Monday’s Regular Town Board Meeting, the board approved bids for the Peru Water Quality Improvement Project for the total amount of $1,739,123. These bids were awarded to several contractors to complete work related to general construction, heating and ventilation, electrical, plumbing, etc.
Town Councilor Kregg Bruno asked representatives from A.E.S (the engineering firm overseeing the project) if they picked the lowest bid for each area. A.E.S. informed the Bruno that a balance of cost, reputation, and ability to complete the project to specifications governs their choices.
W/S Superintendent Greg Timmons was asked if there might be disruption to water service, or a drop in water quality during the upgrade. Timmons said any issues will be minor, and probably not even noticed, but he would inform the public if need be.
