Peru Central receives national award
Peru Central School was recognized as a College For Every Student (CFES) “School of Distinction” at the Tuesday, September 10, 2012 Board of Education meeting. This is the 3rd consecutive year that Peru Central has been recognized nationally as a CFES School of Distinction. Only one other high school nationally has achieved this award for three consecutive years.
Over 150 rural and urban schools participate in the CFES program, which includes experiences such as visits to colleges, student mentoring and developing student leadership potential through community service. Many of the participating youths have the potential of being first generation college students. SUNY Plattsburgh and SUNY Potsdam, Clinton Community College, Adirondack Community College and Clarkson University are some of the colleges participating in the program.
Peru Central CFES team members included Jamie Rusnak, Lisa Crain, Brian Marino, Ann Mazella, Jayne Battin, Jeanne Caron, Paul Hart Jr., Kim Tetrault, Mark Hamilton, David Baroody, Rosemary Manchester, Susan Smith and Eric Dubay.
