You still have time to register for Peru’s Octoberfest Half Marathon & 10K
Saturday, October 13th, 2012, marks the running of the Second Annual Octoberfest Half Marathon and new this year the Octoberfest 10K. REGISTRATION HAS EXTENDED TO OCTOBER 1ST. Make sure you sign up early! Last year this event raised over $30,000. The Chip Hamilton family and all the people assisting with the event hope to top that this year!
This event is near and dear to the Chip Hamilton family because Chip suffered from this disease. Pulmonary Fibrosis is a lung disease, not usually associated with smoking, but from environmental factors. Most cases are known as IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis) because they unsure how or why the person obtained PF.
There are more and more local families affected by this disease as they starting to learn more about it and be able to diagnosis it quicker. The side effects resemble so many other illnesses that it’s hard to pinpoint PF quickly. Currently, there is no cure, only the hope of a lung transplant.
Runners will enjoy an exhilarating run through the Town of Peru and Peru’s Apple Country while viewing the beautiful Adirondacks fall foliage. There will be a post race party following the race with food from local companies and beer flowing from Plattsburgh Distributing and BARK’S!!! Admission is free, so please stay and celebrate with us!
Training t-shirts, hats and magnets are also for sale. Lace up those shoes, set out and enjoy this beautiful weather training for this fall foliage run!! For information on how to register please go to http://www.runoctoberfest.com/
