Autumn ArtQuest: Art in 3D focuses on sculpture
Plattsburgh, NY – The North Country Cultural Center for the Arts (NCCCA Arts Center) is pleased to announce a special Autumn ArtQuest series. Youth ages 5-12 will have the opportunity to study the many mediums of sculpture with instructor Roxana Palmer Strong.
The program begins on Saturday, October 13th from 10am to noon. It will run for five consecutive Saturdays. “We’re delighted to be able to offer a unique version of our popular ArtQuest series,” says Janine Scherline, NCCCA Executive Director. “ArtQuest typically takes place during recess from school in February, April and in the Summer so we’re excited to be able to offer another series during a new time of year.” “We are thrilled to bring this series to the community,” says NCCCA Education Coordinator, Emily Owens. “This unique program mixes art history and hands-on projects to help students learn and be creative. It’s a wonderful chance for our youth explore classic pieces of sculpture and create their own works.”
During the Autumn ArtQuest: Art in 3D program, students will examine sculpture from gargoyles to human figures to abstract pieces. Each week students will also work in a different medium to build their own pieces. This is the first time that the Arts Center’s ArtQuest program will run in the fall. Winter, spring and summer ArtQuest programs run during school vacations. Each session is based on a different theme.
Scholarships are available for the ArtQuest program. Please contact the Arts Center for more information.
The Arts Center is open to visitors Tuesday through Friday, 10am – 5pm and Saturdays, 10am – 4pm. For a complete listing of all classes and workshops, please visit the NCCCA Arts Center’s website at: www.plattsburgharts.org <http://www.plattsburgharts.org>
