Miner Institute to host Open House on August 10; Goal is to inform public about agriculture and tout education programs
Chazy, NY – July 30, 2013 – Come learn about the research, education, and demonstration programs at Miner Institute at our Open House on Saturday, Aug. 10 from noon to 4 p.m.! The event offers a great opportunity for visitors to learn about the history of agriculture at the Heart’s Delight Farm Heritage Exhibit and to see a modern dairy and equine farm in action. This free, family-friendly event will feature wagon rides around the Institute, equine demonstrations, interactive displays, and samples of local agricultural products.
Miner Institute staff and summer interns will be available to answer your questions about current agriculture practices and demonstrate some of the activities that take place at Miner on a daily basis. There will be displays set up in the dairy and equine barns to help illustrate various aspects of caring for animals, milk production, dairy research, environmental preservation, and our education programs. Miner Morgan horses will perform demonstrations with our equine management interns at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. William and Alice Miner built up Heart’s Delight Farm in the early 20th Century as an affirmation of the importance of agriculture but also used their wealth to give back to the region. A special exhibit in the back gallery of the Heritage Exhibit pays homage to their notable Contributions to the North Country. There will also be some selected education memorabilia on display for the Open House in that gallery.
