St. Augustine’s Church extends its outreach mission
Friday, September 13, 2013 – The Peru Gazette was able to record a historical moment this afternoon as Father Alan Shnob placed a sign outside the St. Augustine’s Crate and Christmas Thrift Store . The store will open for the first time at 9 AM tomorrow. Shoppers will find Christmas items, household items, children’s items and an array of books. Father Shnob believes that store will compliment the works of the parish’s St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store which specializes in gently used clothing. Many items donated to St. Vincent’s can be sold at the new thrift store.
St. Augustine’s Church purchased the 3034 Main St. property from the Roger Wright Estate. Roger Wright, a lifelong St. Augustine’s parishioner, passed away on August 19, 2013. Father Shnob said the thrift store would be called “Roger’s House” in his memory.
