The Strand Center for the Arts and Adirondack Regional Theatre Present the Powerful and Intimate Musical, THE LAST FIVE YEARS

PLATTSBURGH  (May 10, 2015)  –Adirondack Regional Theatre (ART) and The Strand Center for the Arts are thrilled to  present Tony  Award winning  composer Jason  Robert  Brown’s powerful  and  intimate musical, The  Last  Five  Years as part of The Strand Presents Series.

The  Last  Five  Years won two Drama Desk Awards in 2002 for Outstanding Music and Outstanding Lyrics .The score is beloved among contemporary musical theatre fans, becoming an iconic piece that has defined a new generation of theatre lovers and artists.

Show dates are Friday June 5 at 7:30pm and Saturday June 6 at 2:00pm and 7:30pm at Plattsburgh’s Historic Strand Theatre. Ticket prices are $18 General Admission, $15 Strand Center for the Arts members, seniors, students and military. The musical explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, (played by James Kelly) and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress (Elizabeth Abair). The Last Five Years chronicles the young couple’s romance in a new and exciting way: her story starts at the end of their relationship; his begins on the day they met. From first date to final good-bye, through the course of 14 songs, the couple separately tell their own account of their five-year relationship. From the whimsical optimism of Jamie’s “Shiksa Goddess” to Cathy’s crushingly vulnerable “Still Hurting,” The  Last  Five  Years takes  a  bold  look  at  one  young  couple’s  hope  that  love  endures  the  test  of  time. Funny,  honest,  and  intimate.

Adirondack Regional Theatre follows up their critically acclaimed “Love Letters” with another from the heart production. “The Last Five Years” is being co-presented by The Strand Center for the Arts and The Adirondack Regional Theatre.
