A Message from Barrie Finnegan of the North Country Honor Flight
Flight #29 will take to the skies this Saturday, Sept. 7th morning bringing 1 WWII Veteran, 7 Korean Veterans and 7 Vietnam Veterans on a trip of a lifetime.
The Veterans will be escorted to the Veterans Park by Police and motorcycle escort to be ready for a 7am sharp start to their send-off ceremony. All are welcome to this touching event to Honor the service of these 15 North Country Veterans.
Among the honorees are three brothers and their brother in law. The Miller brothers, Roger, Leeward and Clarence will be joined by brother in law Ray Hosler to complete this family with a remarkable history of service.
Flight #29 is being sponsored by Assemblyman Billy Jones. Assemblyman Jones has been a staunch supporter of North Country Honor Flight since his election, and his fundraising efforts, including the Santa Sprint, have raised over $12,000. for North Country Honor Flight. Billy has seen our Veterans off at every ceremony since he took office, and has also sponsored events for our Veterans, like the PSUC hockey night that everyone enjoyed.
The parade to the Plattsburgh International Airport will be led by our police and motorcycle escorts as they pass well wishers along the route. Local fire departments are set up on New York Ave with a breathtaking display to Honor these Veterans.
After the crowd welcomes flight #29 to the airport, the aircraft is given a water cannon salute by the Plattsburgh International Airport as a show of respect for these Veterans.
The flight is expected back at approximately 8:30 pm to what we hope is a warm welcome back home. Please join us for all or any parts of this day of thanks and gratitude for our Honor Flight #29 Veterans.
