Stefanik Sends Letter Requesting Inclusion in Small Business Relief for Farms and Agribusinesses
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has sent a letter to Small Business Administration (SBA) asking that farms and agribusinesses be considered eligible for the SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans. The CARES Act, passed by the House last week, creates an emergency economic injury grant program. This provision expands the eligibility criteria in the underlying economic injury disaster program. However, the SBA currently does not include farmers and agribusinesses as eligible for the program. This House letter requests that they be deemed eligible for this type of funding moving forward.
“Farms and agribusinesses in the North Country make significant contributions to our economy” said Congresswoman Stefanik. “It is our turn to provide them some type of relief in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. I am proud to sign this bipartisan letter along with my colleagues to request that the Small Business Administration extend this grant program to our hardworking agribusiness community, many of whom are still operating as essential businesses during this crisis.”Stefanik Letter Requesting Inclusion in Small Business Relief for Farms and Agribusinesses
