Hurray For Our Peru High School Seniors
By John T. Ryan
Peru – Almost everyone is frustrated that the COVID-19 pandemic is depriving 2020 graduating classes the traditional pomp and circumstance of a formal graduation ceremony. This morning Peru High School Principal Matt Berry, several staff members, and parents were doing their part to honor the seniors. They placed individual large photo banners of the 130 seniors on the fence in front of the Elementary School. Mr. Berry said, “This is one way of acknowledging our seniors. We figured Pleasant St. is the most traveled road in Peru. It’s a place where most people will see the graduates.”
Senior Class Advisors Missy Wright and Missy Barcomb had the banner idea, presented it to Mr. Berry, and it blossomed from there. Coach Bill Pafford, who took the photos for the yearbook, had them made into banners. He was one of today’s volunteers. Missy Wright said, “They’re a great class. This is just one way of honoring them.”
