A “Thank You” to all those who play a role in preserving local history

Roger Harwood pointed out the significant battle locations

Peru – October 11th marked the 244th Anniversary of the Battle of Valcour, one of the American Revolution’s first naval battles. The Saranac Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Valcour Battle Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) commemorated the battle at the Peru Dock, overlooking the battle scene.

Jason Barney, a history teacher at Missisquoi Valley Union High School in Stanton, Vermont expressed his appreciation to the DAR, the SAR, the Clinton County Historical Association, and all historical groups preserving local history. Thanks to the primary sources they maintain, Barney authored a book entitled Northern Vermont in the War of 1812 and received his school board’s permission to begin a local history course.
