Herrick Cross was a respected member of the Peru Community, a dedicated Elmore SPCA Board Member, and a wonderful pet parent to eight kitty cats. After work, he often came to the shelter to
sit on the floor of the cat colony so relaxed with
cats around and on him, that he fell asleep! He was one of the well-known faces of the Elmore
SPCA. With another Board member, they took
community cats to a low cost spay clinic in Vermont for several years. If there was a
squeaky door, items needing repair, and
maintenance work in and outside of the shelter,
Herrick was there with tools in hand. He was kind,
passionate, and dedicated. He was an active director on the Board, and loved bantering with other Board members and the shelter staff. We all
loved Herrick for the person he was. We are devastated and so very sad about the unexpected end to his life. However, his legacy, his passion for
animals, his respect for people will always serve as a reminder of the influence he had on his community, Elmore SPCA, and the people who had the pleasure to work with him over the years. All of us at the Elmore SPCA miss him terribly.
