6 PM Public Hearing on Peru’s 2022 Budgets
Tonight, Thursday, November 4th at 6 p.m. the Peru Town Board will conduct a public hearing on its 2022 Preliminary General, Highway, Sewer, Valcour Sewer, and Water budgets. The budgets are attached for your review. Town Supervisor Brandy McDonald said there are no major budget changes. One item that had been Highway Department expense had to be transferred in the general budget. The general budget covers the town hall and town court activities such as the town board, supervisor, codes and zoning, assessor, JCEO Outreach, and town clerk.
The town board’s 2021 general budget estimated $1,596,434 in revenue and expenses. The 2022 budget anticipates $1,710,565 in revenue and expenses, an increase of 7.1%. Extra money is included for such items as sidewalk repair, park maintenance, and highway line striping.
The board’s 2021 Highway Department budget estimated $1,778,777 in revenue and expenses. The 2022 budget anticipates $1,825,065 in revenue and expenses, an increase of 2.6%.
The board’s 2021 Sewer Department budget estimated $363,670 in revenue and expenses. The 2022 budget anticipates $393,292 in revenue and expenses, an increase of 8.1%.
The board’s 2021 Valcour Sewer budget estimated $61,759 in revenue and expenses. The 2022 budget anticipates $70,720 in revenue and expenses, an increase of 14.5%. It appears $6,000 in administration expenses were transferred to this budget.
The board’s 2021 Water Department budget estimated $785,266 in revenue and expenses. The 2022 budget anticipates $767,746 in revenues and expenses, a decrease of 2.2%. A surplus fund balance accounts for most if not all of the decrease.
