Find serenity on the road to Ausable Forks.
September 30, 2024 – The Serenity Garden on Harkness Road is extremely beautiful, especially at this time of year. If you haven’t been there, it’s 1.4 miles west of the Harkness Methodist Church. Ausable Forks logger, good samaritan Art Ford, and his wife Ann work in the garden almost daily.
In 2014, the Peru Gazette interviewed Art Ford. He said, “I hope people stop by and think about something other than what’s happening in the world today.” When people ask what he’s named this place, he says, “Sometimes I think “Serenity” would be a good name, but I really don’t have a name.” A Christian cross surrounded by beautiful tulips overlooked the peaceful pond. Ford said he hopes people think about God when they visit. He said, ” I’m trying to get into heaven on a maintenance visa.”
Art Ford is pictured in the garden on Monday, Sept. 20, 2024.
