Peru Central faces $2.6 million cut in state aid
Peru Central’s Board of Education launches its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 8th at 6 PM at the school district’s community room, adjacent to the main entrance of Peru High School. An executive session associated with particular matters leading to employment, collective negotiations, and advice of counsel from the school attorney, will take place immediately following the 6 PM start. The school board is slated to reconvene for public session business at approximately 7:30 PM. It’s anticipated the school board will:
- Adopt a set of 2011-2012 district goals;
- Launch the school board’s first budget development workshop, featuring discussion of the Governor’s proposed $2.6M cut in 2011-2012 state aid for Peru CSD;
- Discuss a plan of approach to prepare for the impacts of such a loss of state aid to Peru CSD, while maintaining strong programs, July 2011, forward.
- Receive briefings from the Intermediate School Principal and Middle School Principal on year-to-year gains in student achievement for English language arts and mathematics.
- Engage in discussion regarding the timetable established by the Board last month for recruiting, hiring and establishing an entry plan for a successor Superintendent of Schools to begin on or about July 1, 2011;
- Attend to the full range of school district governance, personnel and finance matters as is customary at the regular monthly meetings of the Board.
As is customary practice at Peru Central, an information packet will be available to district residents who attend the school board’s meeting. The intent of the information packet is to encourage district residents to follow along as the school board attends to key matters and topics that evening.
