Duprey co-sponsored Autism bill
Message from Janet Duprey: As a co-sponsor of Assembly bill 6305-A, I stood proudly with Governor Andrew Cuomo as he signed the bill into law. This new law which becomes effective November 1, 2012 provides health insurance coverage for those in need of diagnosis and those who have been diagnosed as being on the Autism Spectrum. Autistic children and adults will now have increased access to the programs and services they need and deserve.
This legislation is a major step forward in providing access to health care including a variety of treatment options to improve the life of children and adults with autism spectrum disorders and their families. This bill allows families to seek earlier treatment and better results while easing the financial burden they currently face. I applaud Governor Cuomo for signing this bill passed unanimously by the members of the Legislature. This new law is simply the right thing to do for thousands of New Yorkers on the autism spectrum and their families.
