Santa visits Peru during Tree Lighting Ceremony
Kids of all ages came together Friday evening to celebrate one of Peru’s most cherished traditions — The Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Several hundred neighbors gathered in the crisp evening air singing Christmas carols, and awaiting the arrival of Santa.
This year the tree is adorned by blue lighting to bring awareness to a nation-wide campaign to fight Juvenile Diabetes. Pat Uliva & Sue Millett, long standing members of the Youth Commission, shared the honor of lighting the tree.
Mr. & Mrs. Santa Clause were delivered promptly at 7PM via fire truck decorated in holiday style and they spent the evening as children lined up to share their Christmas wishes with them. (Click here for more photos)

Youth Commissioner John Flynn expressed a heartfelt thanks to everyone involved:
- Mike Hanlon, Greg Timmons, & Josh Liberty who did the gazebo & outside decorating.
- The Fire Department who decorated their own trucks & safely delivered Santa.
- The Youth Commission, who organized the event, decorated & set up the inside, and provided the refreshments.
- Tim’s Tunes who provided the music, karaoke, & microphones.
- The Peru Community Church for donating the use of the Fellowship Center.
- And finally, a very special thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Clause (who look amazingly like John and Vicki Masella).
