A walk in Washington DC starting at the White House
By John T. Ryan
At a time when most Americans have the Inauguration of our new President on their minds I thought people might enjoy some of the photos I took on October 20, 2007. I walked from the White House at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. to my daughter’s home in the Glover Park section of D.C. The Inaugural Parade will travel down Pennsylvania Avenue. On that October day there were demonstrations and a field hockey game taking place on Pennsylvania Avenue just outside the White House gates. It was the weekend of the International Monetary Fund meeting and D.C. Police were everywhere. Two photos show the police in front of the Monetary Fund headquarters building. I walked down Pennsylvania Avenue to M Street in Georgetown and up Wisconsin Ave. to Glover Park where a Little League game was taking place. Washington D.C. consists of more than tourist attractions and government buildings. There are also many wonderful neighborhoods. Here are the photos.
