PenAir to replace Colgan Air, service to Boston uninterrupted
From the Office of Congressman Bill Owens
PLATTSBURGH – Congressman Bill Owens announced today the United States Department of Transportation has selected PenAir to provide Essential Air Service from Plattsburgh International Airport to Boston.
“I am pleased to see our effort to continue Essential Air Service from Plattsburgh to Boston was successful. During this process, we were consistently in communication with the Department of Transportation and officials in Clinton County. This new service will help ensure Clinton County can continue to grow economically and recruit new businesses to the region. I applaud the work of everyone involved in this effort and look forward to continued success in Clinton County,” said Owens.
“Clinton County is extremely pleased with this announcement from the Department of Transportation,” states James Langley, Jr., Chairman of the Clinton County Legislature. “PenAir has a proven track record of providing quality air service and will be a key component of the continued success of Plattsburgh International Airport. We look forward to a smooth transition and long-term relationship with PenAir.”
“PenAir has expressed real enthusiasm about this region and we are already developing some great marketing plans with them to accompany their launch here,” states Garry Douglas, President of the North Country Chamber of Commerce. “While we regret that a change in Colgan’s national business strategy has led them to largely move away from the northeast, they took us to the next level and established the need for larger aircraft here. PenAir can now build on that success, and we welcome them to our growing airport and to the opportunities that stand before us. Onward and upward!”
