See a Broadway Star and help Peru youth assist others
From the Peru Community Church
Award winning singer and veteran Broadway performer Karen Mason returns to the North Country for one show only on Friday, February 6th. The performance will be held at the Plattsburgh Elks Club and will begin at 8:00pm. Tickets for the performance are $25 each and are available at the Peru Community Church Office (13 Elm Street) or by calling 643-8641. All proceeds will benefit the Peru Community Church Senior High Youth Group’s annual mission trip to Washington, DC.
Karen Mason was most recently seen playing the part of Velma Von Tussle in Broadway’s “Hairspray.” The show ended its run in early January. Ms. Mason was with the show for eight months. Other Broadway credits include: “Mamma Mia!” “Sunset Boulevard,” “Jerome Robbins’ Broadway,” “Play Me a Country Song” and “Torch Song Trilogy.” She also has several Off-Broadway and television credits to her name. The youth group mission trip will take place over Spring break. The students and their advisors will leave Peru on Saturday, April 11th at 6:00am. They’ll spend the week doing volunteer work in several soup kitchens, a daycare center, a clothing store, a farm, and sort thousands of pounds of food in the Capitol Area Food Bank. There will be time for some fun too; museum visits, a dinner theater and general sight seeing are on the agenda as well.
The group will head home on Friday, April 17th after a satisfying week of helping those less fortunate and enriching their friendships with one another.
If you are interested in making a donation towards the funding of the trip, you can send it to Peru Community Church, PO Box 38, Peru, NY 12972 and note that it should go to the Senior High Youth Group Mission Trip.
Thank you,
