North Country Honor Flight Flying United
A Message from the North Country Honor Flight
For the first time since the initial flight of 2013, on Saturday, September 1, 2018, North Country Honor Flight will be flying commercially. The new partnership with United Airlines has worked out well and the itinerary for the day is basically unchanged. The biggest difference is we will be getting our Veterans back around 7:45pm, which is much more convenient than the 10:30pm of past flights. The rest of the day is almost unchanged, our send-off ceremony will still start at 7am at the Veterans Park on the US Oval. We will be speeding up the ceremony a little bit to get our Veterans to the gate as soon as possible. The parade route from the Oval to the Plattsburgh International Airport will begin at approximately 7:45am. The water canon salute to our Veterans is still in place from the airport staff. The welcome home will be approximately 7:45 pm at the airport.
All phases of the day are open and free, we strongly encourage people of the North Country to come show their patriotism and support for these heroes as they embark on their trip of a lifetime.
One sad note is that this is also the first flight without any WWII Veterans on board. We ask everyone to be sure and let us know of any WWII Veterans that we can contact to arrange for their Honor Flight. We are nearing the end of our Korean War Veteran list also, we will be taking Viet Nam Veterans in the near future.
We wish to thank the people of the North Country for their continued support of this mission, your continued generosity keeps this program flying.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me for any further information. Thanks
