James Reported to Jail Today
By John T. Ryan
Plattsburgh – Michael V. James reported to the Clinton County Jail this morning at 9 a.m. to begin serving the 365 day sentence imposted in Peru Town Court on September 4, 2018 by Town Justice Lawrence Cabana. Judge Cabana gave James 30 days to get his affairs in order before reporting to jail. If James behaves himself he could be released after serving 8 months of the 365 day sentence. Sentencing came almost one year after James’ dog mauled Mrs. Loretta Timmons, then 8o, who underwent five hours of corrective surgery after the attack.
Judge Cabana told the Peru Gazette that James’ attorney requested a stay (halt in the legal process); however, the request was denied yesterday by Franklin County Judge Derek P. Champagne.
