Glushko will sign checks, but positions remain vacent
By Donald McBrayer
The Town Council held an Emergency Board Meeting on Monday August 3rd in order to authorize someone to sign upcoming payroll checks. Counselor Tom Powers chaired the meeting and informed the public that no public input would be allowed.
Town Attorney Donald Biggs suggested someone be appointed for the purpose of signing checks. An appointment would only last until the next scheduled regular meeting on August 10th. A motion was passed authorizing Pete Glushko to sign the payroll checks.
The topic of replacing the vacant Supervisor’s position was addressed. Counselor Brandy McDonald expressed concern that if a replacement supervisor were to picked from the three remaining counselors, the required vote of three would be impossible because a councilor cannot vote for himself. He suggested voting in a councilor first, filling the two-year vacancy left by Cortland Forrence, and then with four votes, voting in a replacement for the supervisor position. After a few minutes of discussion, the meeting was adjourned to executive session. After roughly a half-hour the three councilors returned from executive session and the meeting was adjourned. No indications of a decision or progress on a decision were expressed.
