…FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING… * The Flood Watch continues for the northern Adirondacks in New York and most of central and northern Vermont, except Grand Isle County. * From this afternoon through Friday evening. * Moderate to heavy rainfall will develop late this afternoon and spread across the entire region overnight. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected with localized amounts up to 3 inches possible in the northern Adirondacks of New York and Green Mountains of Vermont. This rainfall combined with saturated soils from recent rain events, will cause sharp rises on many streams and rivers across the North Country by early Friday morning. Several rivers are anticipated to reach minor flood stage, which include the Ausable, Mad, and Winooski Rivers along with the Otter Creek. * In addition, clogged storm drains from recently fallen leaves could produce considerable street flooding in urban areas tonight. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
