Highlights of the Peru Town Board Meeting of October 28, 2019

The Town Board:
- Authorized inter-fund budget transfers to pay for the Patent Road culvert repairs and the Highway Department’s two new dump trucks.
- Delayed approval of up to $5,500 of interior restoration work at the Lyon Rd School House. The Board wants a more complete description of the work to be performed and assurance that Randy LaValley Construction has workman’s compensation insurance in place.
- Officially awarded the Court House roof replacement contract to Ron Hoy at a cost of $11,400.
- Asked Essex County for an increase to $70 from $50 for each plowing of the Terry Mountain parking lot. Essex County has a tower on the mountain.
- Scheduled a public hearing on the 2020 preliminary town budget for November 7th at 6 p.m. at the Town Hall.
- Scheduled a public hearing on the final 2020 town budget for Monday, November 18th at 6 p.m.
Other News:
Sewer Superintendent Courtney Tetrault reported that NYS Department of Environmental Conservation issued a satisfactory rating for the Town’s waste water treatment plant.
Highway Superintendent Michael Farrell reported that the recent road paving jobs totaled $343,000. His department’s two new dump trucks have arrived. One truck purchase was unplanned but necessary following a January 4th snowplow rollover accident on the Patent Road’s very steep hill. The truck involved in that incident was totaled.
