The primary is over – Here is your unofficial Peru ballot
By John T. Ryan
The Town of Peru’s 257 registered Independence Party members and 29 Conservative Party members were the only eligible voters in Tuesday’s primary elections, therefore a light turnout was expected and a light turnout it was. Only five Conservatives and twenty Independence Party members came to the polls. All the Independence Party voting was by write-in ballot. Absentee ballots, if any, have not been counted. Here are the unofficial results.
John H. Lawliss and James P. Kirby received 4 and 3 votes respectively for the town justice position. Dennis Reid received 2 votes.
For the two-year town counselor positions Kregg Bruno received 5 votes, Geoffrey Spear 3 votes, Alfred Hoffman 2 votes. Tom Powers and Tony Andrews each received 1 vote.
For the Highway Superintendent position James Reed received 8 votes and Michael Farrell received 3 votes.
Assuming these unofficial result are certified by the Board of Elections, John Lawliss will be running on the Republican and Conservative Party lines for the position of Town Justice in the November election. James Kirby will be the nominee of both the Democratic and Conservative Parties. Dennis Reid has the nomination of the Republican Party.
Kregg Bruno will have both the Democratic and Independence Party nominations for the two-year town counsel position. Geoffrey Spear has the Republican Party nomination. Lynn Patno is running under the Partners For Peru line.
James Reed has the Democratic and Independence Party nominations for Highway Superintendent while Michael Farrell is the nominee of the Republican Party.
For the four-year counselor positions Democrats Anthony Andrews and James Douglass are opposing Republicans Donald McBrayer and Susan Polhemus and Partners for Peru Fred Hoffman and Garrett Mastic.

The Republicans have nominated Peter Glushko for the position of Town Supervisor. The Democrats do not have an announced candidate. Tom Powers is the Partners for Peru nominee.
