Peru Middle and High School will be going remote effective Monday, November 16, 2020 through November 18th, 2020

A message from School Superintendent Dr. Thomas Palmer
Dear Peru Central School Community,
COVID-19 Cases have increased in the North Country over the past several weeks. Last evening, the Clinton County Health Department notified a neighboring district that one of their students had tested positive for COVID-19. There was a relationship between that student and the Peru High School. The last contact with the student was on November 6, 2020. Our District learned of this on Saturday, November 14th and the safety precautions that have been put in place by the district were sufficient for the Health Department to not quarantine the affected parties. We have been in continual contact with the Health Department and working through their offices since that time to make sure the District is doing all that it is supposed to be done.

Since yesterday and further discussion with the Health Department, the Peru Middle and High School will
be going remote effective Monday, November 16, 2020 through November 18th, 2020. We recognize the
shift to remote instruction may be inconvenient, but it is necessary at this time, so we can work with the
health department in making decisions for the safety of our students, staff and community moving forward.
Again, in summary, the Middle and High School are moving to remote instruction from Monday,
November 16 through Wednesday, November 18, 2020 for students and staff. When we have additional
information, the district will make decisions for the B group and for the Elementary School. There will be
additional information tomorrow about meals for our students.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
