Bowling Is Her Game

Plattsburgh – Add 203,+ 277 and 261. They total 741, the third or fourth highest triple in North Bowl varsity girls’ bowling history and only nine pins short of the North Bowl record of 750. Kathryn Bowman, a member of the Peru High School Varsity Girls Bowling Team, rolled that triple in last Friday’s team match against Beekmantown. 741 isn’t her highest triple. The Peru High School Junior also bowled a 744 in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference (CVAC) competition and a 764 high series in the North Bowl Youth League. Her highest single games include a CVAC single-game record 289 and a 299 in league bowling. In 2019 and 2020, she was the CVAC’s Sectional Outstanding Female Bowler.

Kathryn’s father, Rick Bowman, is Peru’s Varsity Girl’s Bowling Coach. Asked about Kathryn’s greatest bowling strength, Bowman responded, “It’s her balance and leverage at the line. They’re both great.”

The Bowmans are a bowling family. Kathryn’s mother, Velvett Bowman, is a good bowler.  At one time, Rick averaged a 230+.  In 2015, their son Jonathan set the CVAC high season record with a 233 average as a member of the Peru Boys’ Varsity Bowling Team. He was one of only six boys named nationally as a U.S. Bowling Congress Dexter All-American.
