U.S. Weather Service Hazardous Weather Outlook
National Weather Service Burlington VT
436 AM EDT Tue Apr 20 2021
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northern New York, central Vermont, northeast Vermont, northwest Vermont and southern Vermont.
A potent low-pressure system will affect the region from early
Wednesday morning through early Thursday morning. A mix of rain and heavy wet snow is anticipated in the Adirondacks and across the Northern Greens, with mainly rain in the valleys. We may also see a mix of sleet, especially early Wednesday. We can not rule out a rumble of thunder, especially in Southern Vermont. Rainfall totals will range from half an inch to around an inch. Snowfall totals will be between two and six inches in areas that have snow, locally higher in any heavy bands that develop. Winds will be strong on Thursday as this system departs to our east and winds turn out of the northwest on strong pressure gradient flow. Mountain snow showers will also linger into Thursday as upper level low pushes across the area.
