Rattlesnake Mountain’s views are wonderful and it’s only 15 miles away

Posted October 12, 2008 by John T. Ryan

Rattlesnake Mountain (More photos) is a short, moderate climb that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It usually takes about 30 to 40 minutes to reach the summit. The hike is about a mile long and leads to a long rocky ridge overlooking Willsboro Bay and Willsboro Point. At the summit ridge there are spectacular vistas of Lake Champlain, farmlands, the Green Mountains of Vermont and some of the Adirondacks.

The trail to Rattlesnake Mountain begins just off Route 22 in Willsboro. The trail parking area is located across from the Long Pond cabins 4.7 miles east of the intersection of Route 9 and Route 22 at Northway Exit 33, south of Keeseville. The parking area is just 1/2 mile south of the Route 22 “Long Pond” sign.
