A young lady who loves dairy farming

Peru – Brianna Peryea, the 2022 Clinton County Dairy Association Ambassador, greeted people visiting the Babbie Rural and Farm Learning Museum on Saturday, June 11. A member of Northern Adirondack Central School’s Future Farmers of America (FFA), Brianna was accompanied by FFA member Kyla Rider.
A 10th grader, Peryea springs from a farm family. Her late great grandfather Joseph Snide operated a farm in Mooers and her grandfather Phalen Miner grew up on a farm. He bought Brianna her first animal. Owning one animal has grown to her owning sixteen cows and co-owning fifteen more. Peryea told the Press-Republican, “I own show animals. I milk my cows. I take care of my calves.” She shows her animals at the Clinton County Fair, the Franklin County Fair and New York State Fair in Syracuse.
Peryea is aware of the many careers connected to the dairy industry. She said, “I want to be a dairy embryologist and someday own my farm. That will come after college. Right now, I’m happy working on a farm.” In her role as the Dairy Association, Ambassador Peryea said, “I’d like to educate little kids about the dairy industry. I want to see the industry go in a positive direction.”
