Peru K of C brings Coats For Kids to Peru Elementary School
Knights of Columbus want our kids to be warm this winter
Peru – On Wednesday, November 16th, the day of our first measurable snowfall, St. Augustine’s Knights of Columbus Council 7273 presented twenty-four new children’s winter coats to Peru Primary School Nurse Kathy Bedard and Peru Intermediate School Nurse Linda Delong. Four school days later, the nurses had already handed out four jackets. Kathy Bedard said, “There seems to be a larger need this year with all the financial concerns that families are experiencing.” Grand Knight Cormac O’Callaghan commented, “The Knights always make children a priority. We can do this thanks to all the generous people who support our fundraising programs.”
Since 2013 the Peru Knights have donated 238 new children’s winter jackets to the Peru Elementary School. Each year the two-thousand Knights of Columbus Councils in the United States and Canada distribute 100,000 or more coats through the organization’s Coats For Kids program.
