Judy Lefebvre named Woman of Distinction
From Assemblyman Billy Jones
Please join me in congratulating our 2023 Woman of Distinction for Service to Hometown Heroes recipient, Judy Lefebvre!
Since moving to Beekmantown in 1984 with her husband and Air Force Veteran, James, Judy has been an active volunteer. She has served on Beekmantown’s Planning and Assessment Review Boards for over 20 years, was the treasurer of the Peru Girl Scout Community Service Unit for 10 years, and is still an active member of the Beekmantown Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
Judy is also the Coordinator of the Old Post Cemetery in Plattsburgh, where she organizes ceremonies and community events to honor our #NorthCountry veterans and to help educate the public. For over 30 years, Judy has been an active member of the Peru Memorial VFW Post 309 Auxiliary and its President for the past 12 years. She has gone on to raise several thousand dollars for Wreaths Across America, which allows people to lay wreaths at the graves of veterans in the winter. Judy personally lays wreaths and holds ceremonies for Medal of Honor recipients, as well as unknown soldiers, to make sure no service to our country goes unnoticed. As one of the biggest supporters of our Hometown Heroes, Judy is more than deserving of this award.
As a reminder, our 2023 Women of Distinction Awards ceremony has been moved to May 11, at Clinton Community College’s Stafford Theater.
